Mike Hills is a teacher, mentor, father and friend. He leads Denver’s premier investment team at Atlas Real Estate Group. He and his team have placed more than $50 million in investor funds. Mike’s passion is leading by example. The motto is simple: you win, I win, we all win. He personally owns all types of real estate: a condo, townhouse, 8 single family homes, a duplex, a quad-plex, a apartment and a trailer park. If the deal is right, Mike will buy it. For the past 4 years, he and his time have helped all types of investors: the new buyer just getting started on their first property to seasoned investors who own multi-million dollar portfolios. The goal is simple: to help you identify your goal and then go get it.
Mike is a national speaker for Rachel’s Challenge, a non-profit whose goal is spreading kindness and compassion based on the life of Rachel Scott, the first victim of the Columbine High School shooting tragedy. He has spoken to more than 300,000 young people across the US and Canada in the last 10 years. He’s traveled to 46 states and 39 countries. Most recently with a tour in Israel, a mission’s trip in Nepal and a missions trip in Haiti. He has 4 children and an amazing wife. He’s currently pursuing a Black belt in the martial art of Tong Su Do.
What’s your background?
I moved to CO to go to The University of Denver. I stayed here after school and began an entrepreneurial career that has included liquor stores, casinos and now rental real estate.
Why did you choose to work with Atlas Real Estate Group?
My long term buy and hold, good for everyone belief is in perfect harmony with the “Atlas way.” So, I’m here….and now they can’t get rid of me 🙂
What is the greatest challenge you see in real estate and how do you work towards overcoming it?
For new investors, the first deal is always the scariest. It takes trust, patience and faith to see it through and understand this is long term- 10, 15, 20 years into the future. That first step is tough to take. After that, making that second purchase and then third becomes easier and easier.
What is at the top of your bucket list?
I want to travel to Southeast Asia for a 2 month backpacking trip.
What is the greatest advice you’ve ever received?
Act. Do something. Don’t let Fear hold you back.
What recreational activities do you enjoy?
On a boat, on a lake with my family.
Where is your favorite place in Colorado?
On the lake! Any lake!
